The characterization of the relationship between the morphological and syntactic properties of sentences is, for example, essential for current language theories, indicating that morphological characteristics play a central role in the determination of the verb and the appearance of null and experimental subjects. Faced with such a theory of competences many questions arise about the role of these characteristics in performance, such as: Is there a primary role for morpho-syntaxic function information in the analysis of sentences? How is the functional audit conducted and at what stage of the analysis? The thesis addresses these issues with online and offline studies on understanding the professional verb agreement in English. Two general points of view are opposed: (1) Agreement information limits initial analysis decisions (the “structural construction” hypothesis) and (2) the agreement is verified on the basis of the structure that has been established only on the basis of important category information and structural analysis principles (the “structural assessment” hypothesis). In this work, previously reported evidence and results are used to support the structural evaluation hypothesis. As part of the structural assessment approach, a detailed inventory of the review process (the Structural Agreement Check) is developed. The CCS assumes (after previous work) that the nominal singular is under-defined and that the verification of functionality is initiated by the verb. It is proven that verification is imposed by the delivery of chord features by the links of the sentence-structure tree between the subject and the verb. Further evidence of the structural assessment hypothesis and the CSA will come from online and offline data in three areas that have not yet been studied: agreement with ambiguous pseudo-DPs, Agreement with pseudo-partitions and coordinatorS DPs in verbious subject-order constructions and agreement in more complex structural contexts (subject-verbal contract integrated into a dependence on the filler-gap function and verb agreement in ambiguous subject-parent clauses). The results not only provide a more detailed characterization of the role of the characteristics of the agreement and the presentation of the relationship of agreement in the analysis, but also contribute to the analysis of the structure of participatory pseudo-DPs and existential construction (compared to other constructions of postverbal subjects). Finally, two case studies show that the treatment mechanisms proposed here play a role in destabilizing perceptions of perceptions about gramgrammeticity and can lead to language changes.
