“Our principals, vice-principals and superiors are raising our schools and setting our students on the path to a bright future, and we are proud to reach an agreement with the CSA,” said Chancellor Richard A. Carranza. “Our school leaders put their students first every day and this historic agreement will implement important reforms, such as paid parental leave and the difficult differences for school leaders to fill. The model-compliant agreement with CSA would be retroactive to April 28, 2019 and expire on January 28, 2023. The terms of the agreement must be approved by the union members. With this treaty, we have also taken an important step towards fairer wages for contractors. In addition, the DOE is committed to establishing a tenure framework that provides clear and concise guidelines for school and non-school supervision decisions. The agreement also protects all members from retaliation, clarifies withdrawal rights and ensures more collaborative observations and assessments.
